ADULT SKATE Adult skating is growing in popularity and Skate Brandon is proud to offer a recreational learn-to-skate program this year! Adults and teens are welcome to come experience the challenge of ice skating in a fun, social environment. There will be a minimum number of skaters to ensure this program runs. If you are thinking about it, take this opportunity to try something new! INTRO TO CANSKATE The Intro to CanSkate program is meant to introduce your child to the skating world with you at his or her side. The program is adapted from the CanSkate program, so you will see a lot of similarities and a few differences. The two main differences include the session length of 30 minutes, and the adult partner. We hope having a parent or family friend there alongside them will be a comfort. Due to insurance purposes, the same parent must accompany the skater, on skates, to each session. CANSKATE The Canskate program is taught by Professional SkateCanada Coaches and assisted by Trained Program Assistants. Awards and incentives are used to motivate skaters to achieve and develop their skills as well as to keep interest high! Canskate is the feeder program to all other Skate Canada Programs. Skate Brandon holds 2 sessions each winter, . These classes fill up fast so watch in late summer for registration dates and times. CanPower CanPower Skate, the only nationally regulated power skating program in Canada, is a dynamic instructional program that focuses on the development of balance, power, speed and agility – basic skills essential to hockey and ringette skaters. The program’s unique evaluation and rewards system, along with the fast-paced format, which resembles a high performance training session, makes CanPower Skate an attractive and exciting addition to skating clubs’ programs. Rising Stars Rising Stars is our “Bridge” program offering advanced figure skating techniques. Skaters learn jumps, spins, stroking and edge work as well as learning synchronized skating. Skaters may move to this program before they complete the series of stages. Testing of badges/stages will resume in this program to ensure the skaters are seeing their progress by the badge rewards. The program is taught by 1 or 2 Professional Coaches and 1 P.A. to assist. This program includes ice time exclusively for synchronized skating and a STEEL session with Junior Skaters. STEEL is a group lesson focusing on: Stroking, Technique, Edges, Endurance lesson. These 2 sessions are included in your 2 -1hour/week sessions. After a skater has advanced through the CanSkate and Rising Stars program they will enter the Star Skate program as a Jr Group. Please contact Skate Brandon at skatebrandon@wcgwave.ca if interested!
